Achieve Greatness: Classical Guitar Lessons

During her time at the University of Cincinnati, Lynn Ware had the privilege to study under Clare Callahan and participate in masterclasses with iconic performers such as Oscar Ghiglia, Alice Artzt, Sergio Abreu, Eduardo Fernandez, and Turibio Santos. Moving to Toronto, Lynn found inspiration and guidance under Eli Kassner, who profoundly influenced her teaching approach.

Starting Young

Classical guitar lessons in Toronto, ON, are ideal for children with an early interest in music. With parental assistance, students build fine motor skills and concentration, forming a solid foundation. Parents play a crucial role by establishing daily practice routines and offering full support.

Progress occurs with regular weekly attendance for lessons and adequate practice of the assigned material. With 12-18 months of study, a beginner may be ready to participate in examinations offered by the Royal Conservatory of Music. While the initial learning curve is tough, once fingers are moving properly, the progress can be determined by the student’s and parents’ commitment to practice.

Celebrating Achievements

Aditya Jena
Our students consistently receive high accolades. Aditya Jena, for example, earned his first Regional Gold Medal in 2024, followed by two more in 2025 for Levels 3 and 4.

Aya Tileubay earned her first Regional and National Gold Medals for 2025 for Level 5.

Ethan Ra

Ethan Ra boasts Regional/National Gold Medals (RCM) and was named “most promising guitarist” by the IMFC in 2023. In 2026, he won the Guitar Society of Toronto’s first youth competition (under 16).

Festivals and Competitions

 Ethan Thomas felt happy with increased confidence after receiving two 1st place certificates in the Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival for his level 3 performances of Mary Hamilton and Sherry’s Waltz.  Reward and recognition are the result of a well-prepared  performance and all those days of diligent practice.

As students refine their techniques, they can experience the joy of ensemble playing. Ethan Ra and Brandon Lam displayed this with a beautiful duet at the Kiwanis Toronto Music Festival.

Justin Wei

After completing his Level 9 RCM examination, Justin Wei explored new challenges by performing a concerto, making it to the final rounds of the CMC competition. His performances continue to inspire, showcasing the endless possibilities within classical guitar mastery.
